Admittedly, the aeronautical manufacturer denies himself high and strong any problem on this apparatus, but such a media beating seems somewhat surprising - even worrying - for somebody who does not have anything to reproach himself…
Airbus affirms indeed that the development of A350 XWB proceeds in accordance with the calendar envisaged. He thus refutes information of the Barber according to whom the program took one quarter of delay.
The daily newspaper for its part explains that a meeting of presentation of the plane to the airline companies was shifted from December to March 2009, “fault of having solidified the final specifications of the plane.”
“This information is false. The fact of having shifted this meeting is without relationship with an unspecified delay, we are in times”, declared a spokesperson of the European aeronautical manufacturer.
“The final specifications of the plane will be defined before the end of the year, as envisaged. This stage, a certain number of demonstrators were already conceived and the latter validate our methods and our processes”, it added.
Airbus right now recorded 458 firm controls to date for A350 XWB (Extra Wide Body). Future length mail, carrying means, want to be an answer to B787 of American Boeing and should enter in service in 2013.
Let us recall that under the pressure of airline companies, Airbus was constrained into 2006 to entirely re-examine the project of A350 to improve it, and in particular to increase the diameter of the fuselage compared to that of A330, and to introduce more composite materials.
Blow, the cost of the project will double with more than 8 billion euros, and will take much more time. “Airbus must start from scratch, to define new processes of manufacture, new tools, which will take five years of development at least to him”, in 2006 a supplier of the European airframe manufacturer estimated.
