The major Western powers would be ready to help Tehran build a light water reactor for second nuclear plant of Iran, announced Monday the president of the Society for the construction and operation of nuclear power in Iran, Hamid Soltani.
So bluff or any agreement given the huge economic stakes involved. Who knows, the crisis will perhaps raise "vocations" here and there, in this time of any market downturn is not good to take? The more so, that hypocrisy is necessary for a very long time on the Iranian nuclear issue.
The news agency IRNA Iranian official said in August that Iran was developing a project to build a new nuclear plant in Darkhovin, its second Central, after that of Bouchehr. It will be carried out by Iran without outside help. Its launch is planned for 2017. The enrichment of nuclear fuel from the plant will amount to 2.5 to 3.5% (in the isotope U-235).
"Some Western countries have already indicated their willingness to cooperate with Iran in this project and we want to take advantage of international experience," said the official in an interview with the Iranian television channel Press TV. ( Finance Information City )
The construction of new nuclear power plant of 360 megawatts, is expected to begin in 2012, also indicates Iranian television.
Beginning in 2005, the Iranian parliament has ratified the proposed law on construction in the country of a nuclear power overall 20,000 MW. In December of that year, the government took the decision to launch the site in Khuzestan.
At the end of 2007, the Iranian official announced that Tehran would launch a tender for the construction of 19 nuclear power plants of 1,000 MW.
With Russian assistance, Iran is currently building its first nuclear power station in Bouchehr, port city. Last August, the Russian ambassador in Iran, Alexander Sadovnikov, said that the plant would be ready before the end of the year. Nevertheless, Iranian media have recently revealed that it would be operational until early 2009.
