Bercy Woerth hopes for a clearing for the end of 2009

The French Minister for the Budget, the Public accounts and the Public office, Eric Woerth, estimates that the economic deceleration in France could last a few months and he says to hope for a clearing for the end 2009.

“It is thought that the recession, in any case the very strong deceleration will not be solved in five minutes, it obviously will last”, he declared on France 2. ( Finance Information City )

Whereas the government thinks that the growth could be lower than 1% per annum next, the minister said to hope for a restarting of the economy for the end 2009.

“It is obviously necessary to draw the conclusions (from the crisis) and at the same time to limit them in time”, he has says.

“There will be a deceleration during still a few months and I hope that (...) at the end of 2009, second half of the year, I do not know, the things could better be”, it added.

The Minister for the Economy, Christine Lagarde, estimated Saturday that 2009 would not be “not an happy new year” on the plans financier and economic.

France should however escape according to it with a “annus horribilis” thanks to the governmental measures “to stimulate competition, to stimulate the investment, to improve competitiveness of the companies, added to the general mechanisms which are in place in the European countries”.

Eric Woerth was careful as for knowing if the worst of the financial crisis had passed.

“The intervention of the States, very strong and very suitable extinguished the principal fire, but it is necessary to continue to look at that in an extremely vigilant way”, has it says.
