The Weekly Drugstore Makeup Sales (4/22 - 4/28)

For a listing of the beauty sales at Ulta, Target and Kmart this week, please click here.

Lots to cover this week, so let's get right into it:

CVS shoppers: Four awesome deals this week: 1) Revlon Super Lustrous and ColorBurst lip colors (includes Lip Butters) are on sale for $6 and when you spend $10 on any Revlon cosmetics or beauty tools, you get $4 Extra Bucks. So let's break that down: buy 2 Lip Butters for $12 and get $4 Extra Bucks. After rewards, your total for 2 Lip Butters is $8, which makes that almost a BOGOFREE. And what's even better? The limit on the Extra Bucks deal is six! 2) Buy any Physicians Formula cosmetic and get $7 Extra Bucks. Look out for instant $$ off peelies on the boxes and/or rebates to maximize this deal. The limit on this Extra Bucks deal is one, so choose wisely! 3) Spend $25 on any L'Oreal cosmetics or haircare, get $10 Extra Bucks. L'Oreal Voluminous mascara, Colour Riche lip color (includes Balm) and lip liners are on sale for $5.99 each. So let's break that down: buy five Voluminous mascaras and/or Color Riche lip colors (any combination) and your total is $29.95. After Extra Bucks, your total drops to $19.95, which breaks down to $3.99 each for five items. Whenever they run deals like this, I always suggest printing out coupons from the L'Oreal site for even better savings (there's one for Colour Riche and one for any product) to use in conjunction with the sale (if you haven't already printed these coupons). If you use those coupons, your grand total after Extra Bucks drops down to $17.95 for five items ($3.59 each). Note: registration is required to access those coupons. And remember: coupon deductions are taken AFTER you have met the threshold for the Extra Bucks deal, not before. And finally, all Lumene skincare is buy one get one 75% off (excludes trial sizes)!
Rite Aid shoppers: All Wet n Wild cosmetics are 40% off this week, and that SHOULD include the limited edition Chrome, Be Jeweled and Neon Crackle polishes (but maybe not the Flora & Fauna kits--check with your store to be sure). AND, when you spend $10 on Wet n Wild you get $3 back in +UP! Also, all Revlon cosmetics are BOGO1/2OFF this week, and when you spend $15 on any Revlon cosmetics, beauty tools or ColorSilk hair color you get $5 back in +UP. If you haven't already used the Revlon Video Values coupons for April, NOW is the time to use 'em (there's a $2 off Lip Butter coupon, $2 off ColorStay Eyeshadow coupon and a $2 off PhotoReady Mousse coupon that would work beautifully with this sale). Speaking of Video Values coupons, if you're a fan of Samy Fat Hair products, you don't want to miss the deal this week: Samy Fat Hair shampoo, stylers or Fat Foam hair color are on sale for $8.99 with $5 back in +UP. AND, there's a Video Values coupon for $2 off any Fat Hair item, which would bring your total after rewards to $1.99 for a Fat Hair product! There's also a $3 off Fat Foam hair color coupon, which would bring you total after rewards down to just $0.99 for a Fat Foam hair color! I believe the limit is 2 on the +UP Rewards deal, so you can use both coupons if you want both of these deals this week.
Walgreens shoppers: This week, all Sinful Colors polishes are $0.99 each! Hopefully your location has the new shades I showed you here! Also, many L'Oreal face products are $9.99 this week, so be sure to print out the $1 off coupon on the L'Oreal site if you haven't already used it (as always, registration is required to access the coupons) to bring your total down to $8.99. And don't forget that through next Saturday, April 28th, all regularly-priced $0.99 items from Wet n Wild are on sale for $0.69. (Click here for more details.)

Democrats are warning supporters that a huge cash advantage mustered by Republican

The warning came from David Plouffe, President Obama’s top political adviser: The Koch brothers and Republican “super PACs” have pledged hundreds of millions of dollars to defeat Mr. Obama, he told a dozen wealthy Democrats gathered in a Silicon Valley office suite. Do not believe what you read about all the money the president will raise himself, Mr. Plouffe urged them. He needs your help.
Do all you former Obama voters who are so disillusioned by him remember the mess he inherited and the absolute resolve of the Republicans to block his every move, even to the detriment of the country, really think we would be better off with the frightening cast of characters the other side is putting forth? Look at the big picture for God sake.

Don't Buy New Ipad - Do you really need one of these "new" Apple iPads?

I like to live in the wild. Android for me. I'll take the risk of dealing with whomever I want, rather than only those carefully vetted in the Apple Sanctum.

I am reminded of another company that kept all of its customers coddled and secure behind high walls through which there was only the slimmest of doorways. That company was AOL.

Apple product quality and integration is extremely high and forms its own ecosystem within the larger community. It is safe and secure and oh so comforting to own everything Apple. I hope they never stumble, because those limited DRM iTunes and apps are worthless outside that ecosystem.

How can a young person start saving for retirement if your job doesn't offer a 401(k) plan and you don't have much money?

Q: If you're a young person, how can you start saving for retirement if your job doesn't offer a 401(k) plan and you don't have much money after you pay your bills and student loans?
A: It's hard to know where to start saving when there are so many things competing for your dollars. And sometimes looking at the enormity of how much you "should" be saving can become so discouraging that you give up before you start. Think progress, not perfection; even small steps start you in the right direction and get your savings momentum going.
Higher gasoline prices is the inflation tax we are paying for government profligacy. It is called the stealth inflation tax because it is a sneaky way to deficit spend without overtly raising taxes.

Saving for retirement doesn't just involve saving. Going into debt is a negative savings event that offsets your positive savings. Debt and interest will deep six any retirement plan, except a mortgage on a modest home that you can pay off on a 15-year note. Debt is like pulling your secure retirement and future standard-of-living forward to the present, leaving your retirement in limbo.

How did raising cows turn into trading complex financial derivatives?

Bob Fulper, 85, was born on what is now Fulper Farms in West Amwell Township, N.J. So was his son, Robert, 54, who currently runs the place with the help of his brother, Fred, who is 51. Robert’s daughter, Breanna, 24, recently graduated from Cornell with a degree in dairy management. Breanna would like to lead the family business into the next generation, but she realizes it might not be financially possible. The modern dairy farm, it turns out, represents many of the volatile and confusing trends that have roiled the U.S. economy over the last decade.

I paid $7 for a half gallon bottle for Milk Thistle Farm Jersey Cow milk at Union Square Farm Market. They recently closed the farm due to finanical issues. We need to support our local farmers, instead of mega-mono-culture idustrial farms or food sources.

Women Turning To Black Market For This?

When Lisa's monthly out-of-pocket costs for birth control rose 20 percent to $30 in December, it became too much. The 35-year-old switched to a cheaper method and advertised her leftover NuvaRings, still in the original packaging, on Craigslist.

It should be against the law for someone to put a gun to a womans head and force her to go the black market and buy contraceptives. I mean what if she is past menopause and does not even need contraceptives? What has this world come to? BTW where is the black market anyway?
